Gran Fonduro - a new format gravel-enduro race in the Borders

Given the popularity of events like Grinduro, and the huge push to sell “gravel” bikes by manufacturers in this country, it was only a matter of time before the gravel-enduro format made it’s way to UK shores. While sceptics may scoff, the format makes sense - we don't have huge networks of gravel road here in the UK, but there are often long, fun sections which can be linked by road. And if there's anyone who can make a new CX format work, then it's the good folk at Tweedlove, who provided us with last season's early season innovative opener at  LoveCross.

Details and entry for the race (which takes place on September 10th 2016) will be on the Gran Fonduro website soon. Here's the organisers description:

Gran Fonduro is where gran fondo (aka a sportif) meets enduro. Perfect for gravel bikes, CX bikes, lightweight XC bikes and more, and perfect for riders who want to push out into the backcountry, heading off the tarmac and deep into the wilds.

This is a beautiful tour of the Tweed Valley, using quiet back roads to access the forest tracks, old drove roads and natural trails of Scotland’s bike playground.

Ride with your mates at your own (social) pace through the back roads, then give it some beans on the gravel and dirt. Let your bike take you to a whole new kind of adventure, with timed racing, great food, quality organization and a party afterwards in the walled gardens of Scotland’s oldest inhabited country house.
