With the first race of the 2016 Raleigh SCX Season behind us, the focus of the Scottish Cyclocross scene moves north to Aberdeenshire, where Deeside Thistle CC host round two at Knockburn Loch.
Over the last few years, Knockburn Sporting Loch has undergone a number of developments, and this year’s course takes advantage of changes around the venue to introduce a somewhat different look to the original course.
As well as a new climb, a “Neerpelt” style ditch, a double pit and everybody’s favourite uphill sandpit, fields to the west of the arena add a rolling grassy section to the more familiar lochside and pinewood parcours.
Sign On will be in the Sports Centre, with First Aid, Timing, a new Race Start/Finish straight and Car parking all planned for the top field. The on-site Café (with new caterers Alford Country Flavours at the helm) will be joined by woodfired pizza ninjas Basic Kneads and Sandra Barrett’s Café2U coffee van.
Entries for Raleigh SCX2 - Knockburn Loch close at 23:55 on Sunday 16th October.
