Owen Philipson has released another CX-related podcast over at The Drum Up, this time discussing choices that cropped up when building his new race bike. Topics covered in his chat with Mark Allan of the Bike Haus include the versatility of cross bikes, good reasons to build a bike with cantilever brakes, and mud-resistant freehubs.
Race Report: Battle of Balloch Castle 2016
BLAZING sunshine over Loch Lomond didn’t spoil the occasion as young gun Harry Johnston prevailed at the Battle of Balloch Castle CX. A pre-race deluge brought enough mud to the battlefield to test technique, on a fast and fair course that was well appreciated by more than 100 riders over two races.

Race Report: Plean CX
By Owen Phillipson. This year cyclocross returned to Plean Country Park for the first time since 2011, when Stirling Bike Club ran a round of the Scottish Cyclocross Association series.
The course had changed quite a bit from previous editions of the race, with more tarmac and hard-packed paths interspersed with an offroad section with hurdles and a downhill offcamber corner and a muddy, rooty technical section.
