2x10: Matt & Elisa Smith
Welcome to our first 2x10, a variation to our normal 1x10 where we plan to stoke sibling rivalries, find out parent's worst habits and pit couple against couple for your reading pleasure. First up are Velo Club Moulin riders Elisa and Matt Smith. With a top 10 in the Scottish CX Series for Elisa, and a top 20 for Matt (plus a podium spot), the 2015-2016 season panned out pretty well for them.
1x10: Mark McGhee
My name is Mark McGhee and, with the help of some truly fantastic contributors, I run The Press Room which follows cycle racing in Scotland, and Scottish cyclists racing abroad.
1x10: Anne Ewing
Hi, I'm Anne Ewing. I started cycling about 6 years ago. After half a season of MTB it was evident I had zero skills so quickly moved to the road where I've stuck since. I did the road race in the Commonwealth Games in Delhi & Glasgow and have done a variety of national/international road races in between. I have alternated my focus between cycling & medicine since I started, & since Glasgow it's been cycling's turn to take a back seat.
1x10: Franco Porco
My name is Franco Porco, and I ride for Leslie Bikes/Bikers Boutique and have done for the past 4 years. I’ve also run my own heating business for the past 16 years.
I started off mountain biking around 1992/93 and did that for a few years, then I got a road bike for training - ended up packing in the MTB for the road! I rode for Falkirk BC on the road until 1999 than I stopped once my daughter Francesca came along - I also started the business that year. After a 6 year break I started riding again which was a shock to the system - you don’t realise how fit you were until you start again.
1x10: Lucy Grant
My name is Lucy Grant, my main discipline is Cross Country but have been racing cross over the winter. 2015 was my first year racing in elite in XC and my 1st year as a senior in cross so it was a lot of learning for me.
I’ve always been into cycling for as long as I can remember. My dad was the one who initially got me into cycling. I am very lucky where I live (Peebles) that cycling is one of the main sports in the area so its hard to live here and not ride a bike!
1x10: Davie Lines
I’m Davie Lines aka (Wavy Davie). I cut my teeth in MTB and Cyclocross from the age of 16 before moving over to the road in 2008 where I rode for Endura for a few years then MG Maxifuel and most recently Starley Primal. I rode the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi on the Road and Track Endurance events and I’ve got almost every color of medal in every Scottish Championship that I’ve ridden. I’m now using all my experience to start up a coaching business with my good friend Gary Hand called Espresso Cycle Coaching.
1x10: Cameron Mason
My name is Cameron Mason and I ride for Team Leslie Bike Shop/ Bikers Boutique. I am in my last year of youth racing! I race cyclocross in the winter and Cross-country Mountain biking in the summer. I compete at a national level in both disciplines and just really enjoy riding my bike every day.
1x10: John McComisky
My name is John McComisky. I promote the Portage brand, mainly because I am addicted to using embrocation, I have also been involved with promoting various Cyclocross events over the last couple of years, culminating in the first running of the Beveridge Park Cyclocross Grand Prix in September.
1x10: Fraser Waters
I’m Fraser Stewart Robertson Waters - I think my parents were making a point, don’t you - I’m the bloke with the Manc accent that claims to be a Scot ( I am you know, despite what Jim Cameron tells you). I race V40’s for Velo Club Moulin. I’m owner, builder and cup washer upper at The Happy Cog where I hand build wheels, and build & look after customers bikes.
