Competitors may park in the Overspill Car Park immediately on the right at the entrance. The course/sign on etc can be found 300m further down the road, carry on and turn right at the roundabout and you’ll see the course. Sign-on is located in the finish arena beside the shops, cafe and Sea Life Centre. Toilet facilities are at the main entrance to the shopping mall, directly off the main customer car park, please leave them clean and tidy. From the finish area head for the Gateway Centre Café and turn left.
The full course is cloverleaf shaped with 3 loops, Tarmac, Woodland then Grass. In comparison to other Scottish courses it’s very flat and fast with a little bit of everything.
The U12s race will start and finish in the arena, and uses only the tarmac and a short woodland loop. All other races will start at the far end of the grass loop near the “Comm-Sec” hurdles.
The best viewing areas are along the riverside path to see race starts, the Pits and watch the riders for a long time as they negotiate the grass loop. Or for some true Cyclocross atmosphere head to the “Drumkinnon Trench”, it’s at the top of the woodland loop immediately beside the overspill car park. Here you will find a twisty bank feature where you can encourage the riders with your cowbells. Jammy will also be in the main arena providing his usual “unique” commentary.
Our intention is to bring you cyclocross racing at this stunningly scenic venue every year. So, to ensure an incident free day and hopefully be invited back, we have only one request.
For safety reasons we must stress that all riders refrain from riding bikes amongst the public on surrounding paths, please respect their safety whilst at the venue.
We encourage you to warm up on the course between races or on Pier Road which is between the grass and woodland loops and will be closed for the event. Please follow marshal's instructions for your safety when moving around the venue.
Enjoy the day and tell everyone what a great day you had a Loch Lomond Shores
Glasgow United Cycling Club would like to thank the following people without whom we could not produce such an event: Loch Lomond Shores, Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park and Colliers for the use of the surrounding land.
We thank George Buchanan at Comm-Sec and Thomsons Cycles for their sponsorship. Please consider using their services in the future.
