2022 Series Finale

V40M Series Leader Douglas Cameron racing to secure his overall victory at Leslie Bike Shop Fife Colllege CX

After two years lost to the Covid pandemic, the Scottish Cyclocross Association set out at the last AGM the simple objective of having a Scottish Series of ranking races. This goal was achieved yesterday with the season finale at the Leslie Bike Shop Fife College Cross in Dunfermline!

And what a series it was! Some cracking new courses as well as some equally cracking old favourites. Two new innovations were women only races and the series-leader yellow number, both receiving very positive feedback.

Of course none of this would be possible without the hundreds of volunteers who give up many hours of time, from building courses to sign-on to marshalling. A special mention must also go to the Commissaires who commit to many weekends of very long days to make our racing “safe and fair”. And finally we owe the biggest debt of gratitude to the Race Organisers. They have all stepped forward after the uncertainties of the last two years to put on 8 fantastic races. The SCX Committee would like to thank all of them.

Perhaps the biggest reward for the Organisers though is to see hundreds of riders turn up and race! Over the 8 races, there were a total of just under 2000 riders who took to the start line across the 14 categories of the series. There were a further 439 riders in the U12 age ranges where the emphasis is still on fun - which bodes well for the future.

After some close fought battles, the top three in each category are as follows:-
