SCX gets ready to race

As the XC and road racing seasons draw to a close and with the first Youth CX event at Linlithgow already behind us, we are now just a week away the first Scottish Cyclocross Series race of the season at Muir of Ord.

After the pandemic prevented a SCX series being run in 2020 and 2021, the Scottish Cyclocross Committee and the various race organisers are looking forward to an exciting resumption of the series in 2022, kicking off at Muir of Ord before moving on to Lochore Meadows, Brechin, Irvine, Dundee, Castle Douglas, Fife College and Kinneil. Alongside these Scottish series rounds, details of standalone races and the National Trophy at Callendar Park are also available on the events page.

The first race will of course be tinged with sadness following the recent passing of Rab Wardell - a stalwart of cyclocross racing in Scotland. Rab has been a friendly face on the start line for many years and he was an inspiration to many Scottish Junior and Youth riders. His absence will be felt at this year’s series, and our thoughts go out to his friends and family.

The committee is also mindful of the period of National Mourning following the death of Her Majesty the Queen. In line with British Cycling guidance, the first race is intended to go ahead as planned on Sunday 18th September. Should any changes be required to timings, updates will be posted here and on social media.

Online entries are now open for the first four races of the Scottish CX series: details and links are available in the Events page. It is hoped that online entries for the fifth and sixth rounds will also be added soon.
