Strathallan Castle CX 2024

Strathallan Castle Cyclocross (CX) returns for a second edition on Sunday 3rd March 2024.

Last year Norman and Kirsty Ellis, took their first venture into cycling event organising. With a lot of support from friends, colleagues and local businesses they pulled off a successful event where over 200 participants took to the fields at Strathallan Castle to race laps through mud, grass and dirt. There was racing for all abilities and age groups, the youngest rider was 5 and the oldest was 73. People travelled from all over the country to participate from the far north of Scotland and the North of England.

Racing is again available for Under 8s (10min race) upwards, with a choice of A/B races for “Open” category riders (with the longer option being a one hour race for those brave enough!). There are races for those just thinking about getting into CX and those who like to have fun on eBikes.

There are also categories for men and women, youths, juniors and age categories over 40 up to 60 plus. There are prizes for each of the races sponsored by local businesses. This year support comes from Allan’s Butchers, Synergy Cycles, and Direct Rosettes, all based in nearby Auchterarder.

Spectators are welcome to watch and because the racing is done on short 2.5km circuits it is really easy to walk round the course and see all the thrills and spills. Strathallan Castle have given access to three brilliant fields with one higher than the other two it is possible to watch the action from a great vantage point.

Last year the race was able to raise money for “CHAS” (the Children’s Hospices Across Scotland charity) which has hospices in Kinross and Balloch, and we hope to be able to do this again this year.
